Important Essay topics for class 10 in English

FRIENDSHIP

Man lives in society. He cannot live alone. He wants to live with others. He wants to mix with others. He wants to talk to others. So he requires someone whom he can confide in and rely upon in times of need. Such a man is his friend. He has a feeling of love and respect for him.

Friendship is thus the bond of sincere love that two persons have for each other. A true friend is a blessing in life. But a true friend is very rare in this world. A true friend is one who stands by his friend in weal and woe, in happiness and misery alike. He shares not only his joys but also his sorrow. A friend in need is a friend indeed. A true friend is never selfish. He is selfless in his love. A true friend is a real boon in a man's life.

But all those who mix with us are not our friends. Some are only fair weather friends. They come to us when we are wealthy. But they leave us as soon as we fall into evil days. Such a friend is a false friend. He is not a friend at all. He is a cheat. He comes to enjoy at our cost. He does not help us in times of need. Such a friend can even mislead us. We should never trust a false friend. We should avoid him like a snake.

True friendship is a divine gift to us. Friendship has a great value It exercises a great influence on us. True friends give us the best advice and warn us against danger. They are our best well-wishers.

YOUR DAILY LIFE

[Points : When you get up-in the morning -life at school-in the afternoon-evening-on Sunday and holidays.]

I have made a well-planned routine of life and I follow it carefully.
I know that regularity in habit is essential to success in life.

My daily life is very simple. I get up from bed early in the morning I wash my hands and feet and brush my teeth. Then I sit down and pray for a while. Then I do two or three yogic exercises to keep my body and mind fit and strong. Then I sit down to read my lessons. I have my breakfast at 7.30 a.m. I read and write till 90'clock.

Thereafter I take my bath and meal. I start for school at 10.45 a.m.
I reach our school at 10 O'clock. Our school sits at 11.15 a.m.
We have an assembly where we sing a devotional song. Then our classes start. Our school breaks up at 4.30 pm.. I listen to my teachers carefully. I am never late in my class. I am always friendly with my classmates.

I come home straight from school. I put my books properly on my reading table. I wash my hands and face. I then have a light meal.
I take a little rest thereafter. I go to play with my friends every affernoon. This keeps my body healthy and strong.

I return home from the playground before it is dark. After washing my face, hands and feet, I sit down to read and write. I continue my studies till 9.30 p.m. Then I have my supper and go to bed. I never keep late hours at night.

It is on Sunday that I do not follow this routine. In the morning, I do some household work. In the afternoon, I sometimes visit my relatives and friends. On holidays, I read some selected books other than my text books. I also read newspapers and magazines. I never waste my time in vain.

GAMES AND SPORTS

Points : Different kinds- indoor, outdoor, athletics— benefis -physical, mental-your favourite-why you like it-conclusion.]

All kinds of physical activities undertaken by young people to give some exercise to the limbs are broadly called games and sports.

There are so many forms and varieties of such activities that it is hardly possible to name them.

Depending on the space required to play and the nature of the game, we can broadly classify the various games and sports as outdoor games, indoor games and athletics or sports. Major team games like Football, Hockey, Cricket, Volleyball, Kabadi, Basket ball, Rugby etc. are played outdoors. Some other games and sports like.

Badminton, Table-Tennis, Squash, Billiards etc. are generally played indoors. Athletics like Races, Jumps, Throws, Swimming, Boxing, Weight-lifing, Karate, Judo, Wrestling etc. are played both indoors and outdoors. Apart from those mentioned above, there are still a large variety of games and sports like golf, cycling, horse-riding, rowing, skating and so on.

Games and sports of some kind or the other are an essential part of human activity to trim our body and train our mind. They provide exercise to the body and build up physical strength. People who have very little scope of physical activities because of the nature of their profession, need games and sports most. They help to keep a person healthy, physically fit, agile and smart. At the mental level also games and sports teach us discipline, team-work, fellow-feeling, alertness, obedience and so on.

In this respect, I am lucky to have received guidance and encouragement from my parents since my childhood. My father suggested that I take up Badminton seriously. He took me to the Indoor Stadium at the Nehru Stadium Complex and got me enrolled for regular coaching and practice. At times, my father also gives me practice at home. I like this game for various reasons. It gives good exercise to the whole body. It does not require much space and two persons are enough to play it. It is also an all-weather game

It is a good sign that people have now-a-days started realising the importance of games and sports. The government also is trying to provide infrastructure. At present, our country is still lagging far behind in games and sports. We can improve the situation only through sustained effort and devotion.
