Once there was a stylish oldman in a small town. His hair and beard became grey. But he didn't want to show others that he was old. One day he had to attend a marriage party in his town. To show himself as a young man he dyed his beard and putting on a black turban he attended the party. The party was a grand one. As they were enjoying the party a.

wicked boy hit the old man from behind and his turban fell off on the floor. All his friends noticed the act of the wicked boy. They began to laugh at the oldman saying "grey hair and dark beard". The old man was jolly in nature and expert in cutting jokes. He immediately said to them. "My hair is much older than my beard". Everybody present there praised his sense of humour.

THE QUICK-WITTED BOY

It was a busy congested area of a town. There were rows of houses along the two sides of the road. One day, one of the houses suddenly caught fire. The inmates of the house raised an alarm. People of the locality rushed to the house. They tried various means to put out the fire. They threw buckets of water into the fire. They threw sandbags into the fire. But the fire could not be put out. It spread to a nearby house. There were red flames rising high above. It was a dry, windy day. People got panicky. They were at a loss what to do.story

A small boy was standing there and watching the fire. All on a sudden, he ran off to a neighbouring house where his friend lived. This friend had a mobile phone. The boy briefly mentioned about the incident of fire and asked for his mobile phone. With that he rang up the Fire Brigade.

He then ran back to the spot of the fire,

Within a very short time, two Fire engines arrived at the spot. They set to work at once. They put out the fire very soon. The fire could not cause further harm. People heaved a sigh of relief. Everyone present there came to know how the boy had rung up the Fire Brigade. They praised the boy's presence of mind. It was he who had saved their locality from the fire.

Ans. The Witty King and His Lazy Subjects

      Once upon a time, there lived a King. He was very distressed at the plight of his kingdom. The people of his kingdom were very lazy. So, in order to teach his people a lesson he thought of a plan. He had a big stone placed in- the middle of the road in a busy market place.

           The people who thronged the market place saw the stone in the middle of the road and made their way around it. The lazy people did not care to remove the stone but instead, blamed the government for not having it removed in time. Seeing this, the king had the stone removed by his sdiers. On removing the stone, beneath it there appeared an iron box marked with the inscription "For the man who removes the stone".story]

On opening the box, there was found inside a purse full of money.

Seeing the purse full of money, the people cursed their luck for not removing the stone. The king then announced that he had intentionally done so to test his people. On hearing this, the people felt very ashamedto have failed their King's test. They also realised what a golden chance they had lost because of their lazy habits.

The fruits of hard work.

There lived two friends Rajesh and sohan in a village. Rajesh was very religious and had great regard for god. While sohan was very hardworking. They dug together a bigha land. So he wanted to grow a lot of crops and build his home.


Sohan worked very hard in the fields but Rajesh did not do anything, he went to the temple to get a good harvest from the Lord. He would pray. This is how time passed. After some time the field crop was ready.The one whom both went to market and got good money. Coming home, sohan told Rajesh that I would get more of this money because I have worked hard in the field.


On hearing this, Rajesh said, 'I must have got more of your wealth from you, for when I prayed to god, we have succeeded. Without god nothing is possible. When they could not resolve this matter, they went to the village headman to find a betrothed share of wealth.


The chief, on hearing what they had been saying, gave them a sack of rice mixed with pebbles. The chief said who should get the greater share of the wealth of karsaga when you have to bring both of you rice and pebbles out of it by tomorrow morning?

They went to their homes with a sack of rice. Sohan awoke the whole night to set aside the rice and the pebbles. But Rajesh went to the temple with the sack of rice and prayed to god to separate kankad from the rice.


The next morning sohan carried as much rice and pebbles as he could and went to the chief. On seeing this the chief was delighted. Rajesh carried a sack of equal size and went to the chief.


The chief asked Rajesh to show me how many rice you had cleared. Rajesh said, I have full faith in god that all the rice must have been cleared. When the sack was opened, the rice and the pebbles were of the kind.


The zamindar told Rajesh that even god was able to help him when you laboured. The zamindar consolidated the greater part of wealth. Given it to. This was followed by Rajesh working hard in the field like sohan and this time his crop was good.

This story teaches us never to trust god. We should work hard to get success.
