When they could not resolve this matter, they went to the village headman to
find a betrothed share of wealth.
The chief, on hearing what they had been saying, gave them a sack of rice mixed
with pebbles. The chief said who should get the greater share of the wealth of
karsaga when you have to bring both of you rice and pebbles out of it by
tomorrow morning?
They went to their homes with a sack of rice. Sohan awoke the whole night to
set aside the rice and the pebbles. But Rajesh went to the temple with the sack
of rice and prayed to god to separate kankad from the rice.
The next morning sohan carried as much rice and pebbles as he could and went to
the chief. On seeing this the chief was delighted. Rajesh carried a sack of
equal size and went to the chief.
The chief asked Rajesh to show me how many rice you had cleared. Rajesh said, I
have full faith in god that all the rice must have been cleared. When the sack
was opened, the rice and the pebbles were of the kind.
The zamindar told Rajesh that even god was able to help him when you laboured.
